Ornamentation in Baroque music was important. Johann Joachim Quantz describes two different types of ornaments. In this video we are talking about the ‘essential’, so-called French style ornaments. They are the ones we are most familiar with today, called trill, mordent, appoggiatura, etc.
How did people play these ornaments, where and how could they be combined?
